Don’t you hear my cries? My pain?
She asked out loud, though she felt
In vain
There was no happy ending
Sad songs sung wistfully
No more abcs
No more 123s
No more pretending
Some children live
Some children die
No one knows the real reasons why
Some stay for short
Some don’t make it at all
And grief creeps in
And tears through our walls
A bittersweet symphony
Asking one more time
To play baby shark
To read before bed time
No more dreams
Of all the “somedays”
No more tears left
No more prayers to pray
