Fall is
The smell of brisk damp air
A crunch of crispy leaves
Underfoot
The feel of soft flannel
On your skin
A hot cup of apple cider
With cinnamon

Fall is
The warmth of an old kitchen
Full of laughter
Full of love
The taste of creamy
Squash soups
Little painted pumpkins
On the porch by the door

Fall is
A leaf ever twisting
Helicopter seeds spinning
Through the air
Bright colors bursting
From rolling hills
Farmers harvest
Everywhere

Fall is
Spooky season
A pair of sunglasses over a sheet
A bag of candy going quick
Little voices, “Trick or Treat?!”
A scarf and beanie warms us up
At outdoor markets on the street
And pies so savory or so sweet

Fall is
Hayrides
and bonfires
Corn mazes and apple picking
Fall is readying
Warm bones for winter
Funnel cakes and
Finger licking
