*written in light of recent developments around the world with Russia invading Ukraine, Israel vs Palestine, North Korea accepting weapons from Russia and Iran, Iran supporting Palestine in war… I’ve had a lot of thoughts and tried to capture as much as possible in a poem that feels a little more lighthearted than intended.

“I stand against acts
Of violence and war
This isn’t what
Our hands were made for

I mourn the loss of life
Despite what divides us
Whether nation or borders
Or the things that ignite us

When even a lone life is lost
Not a single human wins
We fight and we fight
Holding room for our sins

I’m not pro Israel
Never been pro America
Not pro North Korea
I’m pro taking care of the

People in places
We’d rather not be
And the places with people
We’d rather not see

Never beleived in these borders
Utilized to separate
Used to cause division,
Death, destruction, to agitate

To agitate and aggravate
Political affairs
As we watch people die
With their arms in the air

I understand
That true peace has a price
In this world it’s expensive
So we’re offered a vice

Right now, war is winning
And I’m coming undone
Imagining my family
On the other side of a gun

Or the wrong side of a bomb
Or a house set on fire
Or trap sent by enemy troops
In the mire

Call it passive or sad
Whatever you wish
I just know that our world
Can’t continue like this”
