**The featured poet chose the following prompt: Use the phrase, “Write from the perspective of someone long dead.”
“The Threshold of Memory”
Pieces of me persist as features on their faces.
I last in some small part as the blood in their veins,
But no longer as a story on their lips.
These creatures, who bear my aspect,
Urge me toward oblivion.
Into the darkest crevices of time
Where things that are forgotten remain.
As a twinkle in the stars,
I watched them spend their years.
But they’re strangers now,
And my name no longer echoes among them.
I’d very much like to remember what it was.
