I’m learning how to cope
With all the “gifts” you gave me
I really thought just maybe
You cared about me
Not just what I could provide you
A never ending supply
That I could not possibly deny you
Was it more than just a game?
Well, I’ll never really know
The push and pull of authority
“Because I told you so”
Spinning webs so intricate
Producing a trap for the lonely
I believed the promises you told me
I feel like nothing but a fool
Caught on a wire above the roaring falls
Destiny a true back door
Whenever trouble places calls
Like the worst storm squalls
I review, reflect, and rethink
A nightmare faced with the stiffest drink
“Spinning webs so intricate
Producing a trap for the lonely…”
I like this poem!!!!And it resonates with my own soul battle with narcissistic abuse. This poem speaks of understanding and acceptance as well as highlights the very valid confusion that comes along with having ever encountered a narcissist.
